OH. MY. GOD!! i don't remember that 70's Spidey at all. the music alone has me onboard and the wall-crawling is actually pretty badass considering it was 1978 live-action.

Chip Fields?! christ, she looks like an Eriq LaSalle impersonator:

oh, the things i would do to a young Ellen Bry's gorilla bush.
weird fact: Ellen Bry is uncredited for doing stunts in Superman (1978).

that Voltroned Spidey is just sad. has Japanese television changed at all over the past 30 years?

the Twilight thing... I definitely think that's having an influence on this film. They hired an emo director, they're going to cast an emo actor, and the story is going to focus more on Peter Parker's high school personal life... all in an effort to make the film more realistic, dramatic, and gritty. Oh, and make it 3-D as well, because... well, you know... it heightens the cinematic experience.

So, to sum it up, Twilight + The Dark Knight + Avatar = THE AMAZING SPIDERMAN (you know it'll have a corny title like that.) To be honest, I might have a hard time watching this movie if it's another origin story. I mean, i just saw his freaking origin eight years ago. Batman Begins worked because it went places the other Batman films never bothered to go. You can't say that about Rami's Spiderman.

I wish they would just stop screwing around. If realistic is what they want, they should just go the route of the '70s tv series (which, I might add, I lived off of as a teen thanks to Blockbuster... and back then they had their 'money back guarantee' in which if you didn't like the movie you rented you could pick out another, free -- i'll be honest, i exploited that.. heavily.)

Ah, the memories...

i heard this: "expect less villains." why? because they are going for a "teenage angst story" arch. i'm thinking Glee (television) at one side of the spectrum, or The Crow: Wicked Prayer (2005 - look it up and be horrified) at the other end. no-name cast + fledgling director + fast-approaching release date + teenage plot = tapping into the Twilight crowd maybe? i'm so giddy because this Spidey reboot just might introduce us to the next eerily-hairless, curly-locked Ryan Phillippe or Robert Pattinson that anyone over 25 will be rolling their eyes at until his career burns out.

i don't like Raimi. his direction/production is corny: looks corny, feels corny ...it's sophomoric - there's something about his lighting or lenses. for some reason, i always thought Raimi was the director of the original Power Rangers television series. ?!?! i don't know why i thought that, but it always made sense. still does even though it doesn't Google that way. in any case, that gives you an idea how corny his stuff is to me. sure, his Evil Dead shtick is "fun" (the first time) but it's not quality cinema ...just as Bruce Campbell is a man's man, BUT he is definitely not a good/believable actor.
