Planet Hulk… and The Avengers

To be honest, the only real reason I have any growing anticipation for The Avengers movie (due out in theaters next week) is because I just finished reading Planet Hulk.  It’s well known in these parts that I’m just not that big of a Marvel fan.  I swing DC… always have, always will.  But after having Planet Hulk thrust into my hands and being forced to read it, I must say…  this Hulk character has a lot going for him.  The character is deep… Batman deep.  And, the more I think about it, I guess I’ve known this… it probably explains why I’ve eagerly seen, and been hugely disappointed, by the character’s last two cinematic outings.  Anyway, Planet Hulk is good.  So good it even piqued my interest in the Silver Surfer (hence this post a few weeks ago.)  If you haven’t read it, you should.  As for The Avengers film… from what I’ve heard, every scene that includes the Hulk, he steals the show.  Might they actually (and finally) get the character right?  Getting excited…
