Behind every one alive today stand thirty ghosts…

May 23, 2010

Tonight I spent Saturday night at home, alone.  Though not as bad as it sounds, I realized just how long it’s been since this has happened.  It kind of reminded me of my younger days, my nerdier days, back in high school, when — instead of boozing it up with chums — I’d sit at home with good books and my imagination.  My best friend back then… Sir Arthur C. Clarke.  Do you know how many times I’ve read 2001: A Space Odyssey?  Or watched the movie, for that matter?!  Well I don’t know either… but it’s a lot.  Whether I love the film or book more I simply cannot answer.  I hold them both so dear to my heart.  I actually have memories of reading the book WHILE watching the movie.  If I had had the movie soundtrack back then perhaps I would have played that in the background as well.  Made it a three-some.  Hmm… it’s not like I’m doing anything better right now…

since i spend most of my sleeptime waking up these days, i’ll grab the Droid and peruse the interwebs before trying to go back to sleep for another two refreshing hours of the self-inflicted tragedy that is my life on pause. ugh, one more month.

i read the headline then the first sentence and was immediately “excited” at the thought of getting the willies from your night home alone.
turns out i ended up getting the cooties from your nerd story. reading 2001 while watching (and pausing, presumably) the worn-out VHS tape. bet you felt like a smart little detective identifying the discrepancies between the two.

    …geez, i had no idea.
