Is this the next Ford Mustang?
So is this the next Ford Mustang? What you’re looking at is the Ford Evos concept car… but if the rumblings are true coming out of Detroit you can expect the pony badge slapped on the front of it. My thoughts? It’s not that bad. The retro pony car fad (that Ford kicked off in ’05 — and that I’m a big fan of, wink-wink) has probably run it’s course (what, with the Camaro AND the Challenger chasing from behind) so I can understand the need to go more contemporary, especially considering Ford seems to have it’s eyes set on more “up-scale” competition like the BMW M3 and Infiniti G37. Anyway, read more (and see more) about the potential redesign here and here.
Just another day at the office…

So that’s what North Korea looks like at night…
This is a satellite image of both North and South Korea at night. North Korea cannot afford to light it’s cities at night (nor would it have the necessary infrastructure if it could.) But it has nuclear weapons. North Korea is many things… but a developed nation it is not. And that is what makes that country, both it’s insane leadership and loyal-to-the-death slave citizens, so very dangerous. I once had a friend from South Korea and he’d tell me about serving in the South Korean army (all citizens are required), about staring out across the 38th parallel at the enemy (the North looks at those of the South as subhuman), and about raising a family, his wife and son, in Seoul, the capital of South Korea. He would tell me how often, even while studying in America, he would lay awake in bed, unable to sleep… gripped by fear…knowing the North has nuclear weapons. It’s only a matter of time, he’d say. It’s only a matter of time.
This horror show is in our future, and is so ghastly that our own darling leaders dare not face it and can only peep through their fingers at what is coming. – Christopher Hitchens
I found a good article while searching for that image, read it here.
So that’s what a North Korean missile looks like…
In celebration of the 100th birthday of founder Kim Il Sung, North Korea recently invited a handful of foreign journalists into the secretive country. Of most interest to Western eyes: an unprecedented tour of the Tongchang-ri space center. Currently, the 3 stage rocket sits fully assembled, awaiting it’s launch. The Atlantic’s Alan Taylor has been posting some amazing photos – and not just of the country’s missile technology. He also shares a rare glimpse of the country itself… and a taste of the most isolated, brain-washed culture on Earth. Check out the photos here.

Yes, it looks like a model from Thunderbirds Are Go. But it's real, I promise.
The Interrupters… of Chicago gang violence
“If a terrorist or a serial killer or a poison or a disease or a dangerous product was wounding or killing a teen in Chicago at the rate of one a day, we would demand something be done about it. Yet a teen in Chicago is shot or killed at the rate of one a day and it’s shrugged off as just another gang war.” — CJ Laity
A few weeks ago a friend suggested I watch the documentary The Interrupters… and the film opened my eyes to the horrifying gang violence (over 400 shootings and 100 fatalities in 2012 already… and it’s only April) that takes place nightly in the heart of Chicago. It’s an American epidemic that is brushed under the rug by mainstream media (except when time needs filled.) Now I pass this suggestion on to you… watch the film here… and let’s figure out how to help.
